    Cold Wars Make Great Leftovers!

Anyone else slightly concerned by the recent developments in the Iran/Nuke case? Yes, I realize this kind of topic is way off of my usual fare of introspection and silliness, but as I was looking over some headlines in world news, I noticed this little number:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/07/international/europe/07iran.html

This link isn't to the exact article I read (I'm more of a Fox News guy), but it still captures the moment. Basically, Russia pretty much came right out and said "Hey USA? Screw you. Iran? Here. Have some nukes." Well, maybe it wasn't exactly that, but essentially Russia has officially taken Iran's side AGAINST the United States as far as nuclear power goes, and not only that, but they will be assisting Iran in DEVELOPING nuclear power.

I know I've said I miss the 80's, but... not the imminent nuclear war part. On the brighter side, maybe we'll have some fresh new material to turn into Bond movies!

Hollywood Writers Strike; The Office takes Heavy Casualties

So the union writers of Hollywood have finally gone to the picket line, so when your favorite show (see The Office and Heroes) goes into either reruns or is replaced by Who Wants to Marry a Kid Nation? and The Trump Factor, don't be too shocked. (Apparently, all "live" comedy shows and The Office have taken the first hits)

From what I understand, this time the strikers actually have something worthy of complaining about. Their payment agreements haven't been rewritten since the 80's, so anything "new"--DVD collections, downloaded video--they don't get paid for. (Apparently, VHS was going to be "just a fad" and home video would never take off). So the writers just want to make sure they're getting what should be coming to them.

Frankly, though, I have a hard time sympathizing with people who complain that they're "only making $2 million".

In the meantime, check out this guy (http://www.hollywoodscabwriter.com) to get a better idea of WHY we pay writers $2 million.

    Heroes Makes Me Happy

Okay, I'll admit, Heroes took off to a slow start this season, and for those of you who haven't been following the series but plan to, I'll keep the spoilers to a minimum.

So let me just say that after the asian guy did that thing with the whole mess of other guys and there was that incident, I thought that was pretty cool, but when THAT guy showed up at the end of this last episode under the guise of someone else, well, that rocked my socks.

I just hope they kill of the two, that the one gets back into the game in a pretty freakin' cool way, and that a certain obnoxious guy dies quickly.
